Fox News host Bret Baier‘s sprawling $29 million Washington, DC, mansion is reportedly set to become the new home of President-elect Donald Trump‘s commerce secretary pick, Howard Lutnick, CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald.

The extravagant, five-bedroom, 7.5-bathroom, French chateau-style estate was first listed by Baier, 54, and his wife, Amy, back in October 2023 with the eye-watering asking price of $31.9 million.

However, in February of this year, that tremendous ask was lowered by more than $1 million, bringing the sum to $28,995,000.

Realtor.com® records indicate that the home is pending sale—with the Wall Street Journal reporting that the prospective buyer is none other than billionaire Lutnick, who was nominated by Trump in November to lead the Commerce Department.

It is not known whether Baier’s latest asking price was met in full; however, the Journal states that Lutnick, who has been serving as the CEO of the global financial services firm since 1991, is due to close on the enormous home this week. Local real estate agents revealed to the outlet that the purchase of the home could well set a new sale record for the DC area.

That record is currently held by a Georgetown property that was sold for the staggering price of $24 million back in 2007.

Despite the home’s historic appearance, it is in fact just a few years old, having been built by Baier and his wife from the ground up after they purchased the 1.47-acre plot of land on which it now sits for $5.4 million back in 2018.

According to multiple reports, the Baiers poured an extraordinary $25 million into the design and build of their custom home, which spans 16,250 square feet and boasts an incredibly lavish array of amenities.

“Sited along revered Foxhall Road, at the highest point in Washington, sits one of the finest residences ever constructed in the Capital Region,” the listing crows, adding that the property boasts “unrelenting splendor” and “harkens back to an era of handcraftsmanship extremely rare in contemporary times.”

Having been designed with “perfect symmetry and proportions,” the home’s entryway features a jaw-dropping rotunda, complete with a sweeping circular staircase that ascends to the second floor.

The chef’s kitchen has been designed with modern minimalism in mind to create a sleek and unobtrusive space that boasts top-of-the-line Miele, Wolf, and Subzero appliances.

The principal bedroom boasts its own private limestone terrace that looks out over the grounds, as well as two primary his-and-hers bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Should Lutkin find himself seeking a moodier and more cozy space to hole away in, the black-walled office will no doubt offer the ideal sanctuary.

For Lutkin, the home’s premier location near the White House was no doubt another major draw. Should his cabinet position be confirmed, the property will situate him just a few minutes from 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

However, there is no doubt that the home was designed with entertaining in mind—not least because of the expansive living spaces that are capable of hosting dozens of guests at a time.

As for Baier, who hosts his own Fox News show, “Special Report with Bret Baier,” and serves as the network’s chief political correspondent, it remains to be seen where he will base himself next.

The longtime news anchor has sold off multiple homes in the past few years, beginning with another DC property he listed in June 2020 for $7.9 million, before selling it at a discounted price of $6.5 million one year later.

He then kicked off 2024 by selling a Palm Beach, FL, mansion that was first listed for just under $16.5 million, but ultimately sold for $13.49 million. Still, Baier made a profit on the sale of the home, which he purchased for $12 million in 2022.
