Diane Keaton’s Former Laguna Beach Retreat Is Listed for $10.3 Million

Late actress Diane Keaton became a household name for her work in films including “Annie Hall,” “Father of the Bride,” and “The First Wives Club,” but she was also known for her interior design passion—and now, her final home renovation project is up for grabs in Laguna Beach, CA.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom abode has been listed for $10.3 million, and it still includes some of the design elements she hand-picked while transforming the home before her death.

Keaton purchased the home for $6.6 million in 2021, offloading it just a year later for $7.9 million after finishing renovations. According to The Real Deal, they included upgrades to the fireplace, a new roof, lighting and electrical updates, and improvements to the heating system.

“This was Diane Keaton’s last home renovation and still includes all of her lighting and personal touches,” listing agent Brooke Wainwright of LuXre Realty told Mansion Global on Sept. 14, in the weeks leading up to the home’s return to market.

While the dwelling’s connection to Keaton is enough to make any property noteworthy, this home has a long list of reasons to be considered remarkable.

Boasting breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, this gem is located on a triangular 0.4-acre oceanfront lot. It also provides direct access to a sandy beach with a wooden staircase situated around the back of the house.

Built in 1976, the interior and exterior of the two-story home were lovingly refreshed to reflect Keaton’s signature modern black-and-white aesthetic.

The layout of the home is certainly unique, with an open-concept floor plan that’s heightened with cathedral ceilings and oversized windows.

A series of levels are connected by half-flights of stairs, linking the kitchen and dining space to the light-flooded living room.

The bright and airy kitchen features a waterfall island, which offers additional seating. There’s no shortage of cabinet storage or counter space, and a pass-through window connects the room to an outdoor patio, making hosting and cleanup a breeze.

The living room is anchored by a bold, black brick fireplace that brings warmth to the area both literally and visually. A large glass sliding door opens to yet another deck, which is just a stone’s throw away from the ocean.

Keaton was a prolific home renovator, leaving her mark on properties all over California. But according to Wainwright, she particularly enjoyed spending time in the surf town: “She loved doing her flips in Laguna.”

This beachside home joins the ranks of Keaton’s highly sought-after homes, including a Beverly Hills estate that found a new buyer in August of this year, selling for $16.5 million.

On Aug. 18, the last home Keaton lived in—which was dubbed “The House That Pinterest Built” after she shared the story of its renovation in a 2017 book of the same name—was sold for $18 million.
