Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes suffered a shocking loss at the 2025 Super Bowl, when his team was decimated by the Philadelphia Eagles in a 40-22 upset—which the 29-year-old took full responsibility for in a post-championship interview.

Mahomes, who has three Super Bowl wins to his name, told reporters at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans that he “takes ownership in the loss,” conceding that he put his teammates “in some bad spots.”

“I take ownership in the loss, probably more than any one in my career,” he said, according to USA Today. “I put us in some bad spots.”

Mahomes went on to address his two first-half passes that were intercepted by the Eagles—resulting in two touchdowns for the opposing team.

“We didn’t start how we wanted to. I take all the blame for that,” he said. Those early turnovers swung the momentum of the game. That’s 14 points I kind of gave them.”

It was a bitter ending for what had been a strong season for the Chiefs—and one that Mahomes will have several months to mull over before preseason training for the upcoming season kicks off in the summer.

Thankfully Mahomes has plenty to occupy himself during the offseason, having just welcomed a third child with his wife, Brittany Mahomes, in January 2025, weeks before his Super Bowl appearance.

The family also has a dazzling new mansion in Belton, MO, where Mahomes can retreat to lick his wounds—complete with its very own personalized football field that will allow him to work on his skills without ever having to leave the grounds of the property.

Mahomes and his spouse built the sprawling home from the ground up, having purchased the plot of land on which their dwelling now sits for around $400,000 back in 2020, according to records.

The property spans close to 8 acres—with images revealing that the newly-constructed abode features a stunning swimming pool, complete with its own water slide, as well as a large sports field that has Mahomes’ surname written across one end.

And Mahomes isn’t restricting himself to just football as far as his at-home sporting amenities go; in addition to the field, he and Brittany also added a putting green and a private pond.

In October 2024, the home was the site of a burglary, an incident that he later described as “frustrating” and “disappointing.”

“Obviously something that you don’t want to have happen to really anybody, but obviously yourself,” he said at the time.

Mahomes and his wife are believed to have moved into their home in 2023, having spent close to three years completing their dream abode. At around the same time, they also listed their former Kansas City, MO, dwelling—a much more modest abode that they purchased in 2019.

Per local regulations, home sale prices do not have to be disclosed, meaning the final sale price is not known; however, they put the abode on the market for $2.9 million. Prior to the couple’s purchase of the property, it was last listed for $1.99 million.

Additionally, Mahomes is also understood to still own a two-bedroom penthouse in the city, which he lived in before moving in with his wife.

He picked up the place in 2018 and attempted to sell it in 2019 for $485,000. The 1,800-square-foot unit comes with an upper-level roof deck.

The Texas native also owns an off-season mansion in Westlake, TX. The four bedroom, 7,800-square-foot estate on a half-acre lot comes with lots of baller perks—a wine room, family room with a gas fireplace, and an outdoor space with a gas fireplace, grill grotto, lounging fire pit area, large pool, tan deck, and spa.

Brittany may also be eager to take some time away from the public eye, having come under furious fire on the night of the Super Bowl for an Instagram post she shared—which critics blasted as “self absorbed.”

The post featured images of Brittany and her kids standing on the sidelines of the field, and was captioned simply “LIX.” However, it was shared during the game, when her husband’s team was down 24-0 to the Eagles, prompting some to hit out at the mother of three for her poor timing.

“This is what you are posting when the team is down 24-0 at halftime?” one person wrote.

“Mahomes is sleeping on the couch today,” another joked.
