“Mary Poppins” legend Dick Van Dyke proved you are never too old to wade into politics when he proudly endorsed presidential hopeful Kamala Harris in a candid video filmed inside his eccentric $8 million Malibu, CA, home.

In the video, the 98-year-old actor supports the Democrat in the 2024 race, in which she is going head to head with Donald Trump, repeating an impassioned speech that he first delivered six decades earlier while standing on a podium alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Hi, I’m Dick Van Dyke,” he began. “You may remember I used to sing and dance, and fall down a lot, actually.

On “May 31st, 1964, I was on the podium with Dr. Martin Luther King, who was addressing some 60,000 people in the Coliseum in L.A., and I was there to read a message written by Rod Serling, the guy who wrote ‘The Twilight Zone.’

“I think it means as much today, if not more,” Van Dyke said.

He then recounted the speech in question, putting on a pair of black-rimmed glasses and referring to a piece of paper on which it was written.

Reading passages from a speech he made during an event with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. 60 years ago, the actor urged people to decry “hatred.”

“Hatred is not the norm. Prejudice is not the norm. Suspicion, dislike, jealousy, scapegoating. None of those are the transcendent facets of the human personality,” he read.

“They are diseases. They are the cancers of the soul. They are the infectious and contagious viruses that have been breeding humanity for years.”

He continued: “If there’s one voice left to say ‘welcome’ to a stranger, one hand outstretched to say ‘enter and share,’ and one mind remaining to think a thought of warmth and friendship,” then he believes there is hope for a better world for everyone.

“There will be moments of violence and expressions of hatred and an ugly echo of intolerance, but these are the clinging vestiges of a decayed past, not the harbingers of the better, cleaner future,” he read.

“To those who tell us that the inequality of the human animal is a necessary evil, we must respond by simply saying that, first, it is evil but it is not necessary.

“We prove it by reaffirming our faith. We prove it by having faith in our affirmations.”

He concluded: “It’s not what Martin Luther King dreamed of, but it’s a start. Thank you and God bless.”

While giving his stamp of approval to Harris, the nonagenarian—who has also starred in hit movies “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” and “Bye Bye Birdie”—revealed a rare glimpse inside the Malibu property where he has lived for decades.

Van Dyke, who shared four kids with his ex-wife, Margie Willett, purchased the original dwelling in 1986. He gave the home, known as “Vandy Manor,” a multitude of upgrades, even installing a waterslide in the outdoor pool.

Over the years, the legendary actor has shared a few glimpses inside his property. In an April post, he revealed that he added an enormous waterslide to the pool area.

Malibu domicile

The iconic entertainer, who has won a host of awards during his lifetime, including a Tony and an Emmy, purchased his three-bedroom, two-bathroom Malibu abode in 1986 for the bargain price of $750,000. Current estimates value the property between $5 million and $8 million today.

Set on a third of an acre, the 1973 build offered 2,226 square feet of living space. It appears Van Dyke has expanded the home to provide more room for himself and his second wife, Arlene Silver, whom he wed in 2012.

In his endorsement video, the actor was seated in what appears to be one of the main living spaces. It has been decorated with memorabilia celebrating his illustrious career on screen, including a life-size statue of his iconic “Mary Poppins” character Bert.

A “Mary Poppins” poster is also seen hanging on the wall behind him.

Over the years, he has shared a few scant looks inside his home—as well as his spacious backyard—on Instagram.

One video, which was posted in April, showed the actor lounging in a garden chair, with a pool (and a very large waterslide) visible behind him. A few clips showed him working out in the backyard, or dancing and singing around the property with Silver.

Halloween haunting

Every year at Halloween, apparently Van Dyke’s favorite holiday, the storied estate is transformed into “Vandy Manor,” when neighbors and guests are treated to a private “spook-tacular” show, a tradition that’s been going on for decades. The haunted home even has its own Instagram account, where the ghoulish antics are documented and shared with fans.

The dwelling seems to be the perfect backdrop for Halloween and other kinds of fun. The Hollywood icon’s home includes a waterslide and pool, a bar, a patio, and a lawn, according to DailyMail.com.

The grounds also reportedly include a golf putting area, a dance studio, an art studio, and an entertainment hut.

Alas, there doesn’t appear to be a flying car.

Recently, the nonagenarian posted an exterior shot of the home with a red “Vote” sign and a second yellow sign with a dancing figure that reads “Keep moving.”

Van Dyke is actively involved in the Malibu community, regularly participating in local events beyond his annual Halloween celebration.

In June, he and Silver were honored by Malibu High School, which renamed its theater after the couple.

“I’ve lived here for 40 years in Malibu, and we’ve been pushing, you know, to get more theater, especially in a high school. There’s not enough theater. We’re going to get that done,” he told the crowds at the ceremony.
