An architectural masterpiece that was built in the 1960s and has since served as a residence to some of Hollywood’s most iconic divas has hit the market in Los Angeles for just shy of $8 million.

While homes with a celebrity pedigree seem to be a dime a dozen in L.A., this property stands out among the A-list abodes due to its dazzling design, which transports residents back to a time of true glamour—while also offering all manner of modern amenities.

Over the years, the likes of Christina Aguilera and Liza Minelli have called the midcentury mansion home. Yet it is the architecture that truly puts it on the map.

The “true Hollywood treasure” combines “modern luxury and rich history,” the listing notes. It sits high above the iconic Sunset Strip with “breathtaking views” from downtown Los Angeles to the Pacific Ocean.

Offering “effortless indoor-outdoor flow,” the five-bedroom, seven-bathroom dwelling spans 6,500 square feet, with a mix of terrazzo and hardwood flooring. The turnkey space is being offered furnished, if the buyer so desires.

The star-studded property was designed by modernist architect Harry Gesner, whose work included the iconic L.A. boat houses. Gesner designed the home for director Jack Haley Jr., who lived there from 1964 until he died in 2001.

Minnelli lived in the home for several years while dating Haley until the pair broke up in 1979.

Aguilera purchased the home in 2003 for just over $5 million, according to Realtor.com® records. She put the home on the market five years later, with an asking price of $6.25 million. Eventually, she offered it up for rent for $40,000 a month.

She relisted the home in June 2009 for $6,995,000. After several price reductions, she sold the home for the relatively low sum of $4,654,000.

Since then, the home has come on and off the market. It’s now available for $7,995,000.

Inviting spaces

With a geometric gate and an angled wood slat door, the entry sets the tone for the home’s unique nature.

Highlights include walls of glass, wood-paneled ceilings, and exposed beams in the main living area.

But it’s the sunken conversation pit with a bold fireplace that is the centerpiece of the home.

Other amenities include a sleek chef’s kitchen, a home theater with a wet bar, a wine cellar with a tasting nook, and a gym.

The primary suite includes a lounge area, a fireplace, and walls of glass.
