‘Monumental’: Over-the-Top Connecticut Estate With Stonehenge Replica Is Listed for $35M

A spectacular waterfront estate in Guilford, CT, offers top-tier amenities and $35 million price tag to match.

Boasting everything from a vineyard, go-kart track, and sports courts to three docks, two homes, and even a replica of Stonehenge, the 13-acre listing includes three combined properties.

“We think the value is combining the parcels into one piece,” says listing agent Joseph Piscitelli, of Coldwell Banker Realty. “You could develop the property into a family compound. It’s an unbelievable property with endless possibilities.”

Perhaps the most astonishing feature is, understandably, the Stonehenge replica. This dupe of the prehistoric monument was brought over from Europe, Piscitelli says.

Dubbed The Circle of Life, it is said to feature 700 tons of granite imported from Norway. And it looks like the real deal.

“It was a monumental feat to build it,” Piscitelli says. “Each piece was measured perfectly, engineered, cut, and then brought here and carefully installed.”

The listing’s three properties include 215 Uncas Point Road, which features the main house; 175 Uncas Point Road, which has a guesthouse and an orchard; and 44 Uncas Circle, offering a detached piece of land.

The six-bedroom luxury estate boasts a 5,534-square-foot modern interior. Outside, there’s a pool, hot tub, and an open-air kitchen.

The property is said to be owned by Jonathan Rothberg, a biotech entrepreneur, and his wife, Bonnie.

“I think the next buyer will be very creative and want something unique and special,” Piscitelli says. “It could be someone from New York or Boston, so they could easily commute back and forth. It’s 14 miles across from the Hamptons. Guilford is similar to Westport. It’s close to Yale and is a hub for biotech companies, which is alluring to buyers.”

Piscitelli hopes the next owner shares the seller’s vision for the place.

“This family had a vision when they bought it,” he says. “They could have bought anywhere in the world and chose this location. We hope to find someone with the same feeling: looking for someplace special.”
